WELCOME TO THE HERTFORDSHIRE LAW SOCIETY WEBSITE

The Hertfordshire Law Society founded in 1883 is the professional body for solicitors practising or living within Hertfordshire providing valuable benefits to its members including local CPD training, social activities and a regular Newsletter.

It is independent of other Local Law Societies and of the solicitors' controlling body, the Law Society.

It has more than 400 members including employed solicitors, sole practitioners, firms specialising in particular areas of law, firms carrying on general practice, substantial regional firms, and firms with international connections. As a result, the range and breadth of expertise of its members for both the private and business client is extensive.

The Society's principal objects include:

The protection of the character, status, rights and interests of its members and of the profession of solicitors generally.
The promotion of honourable practice among solicitors.
The consideration of questions affecting the profession at large, or the alteration or administration of the law
The promotion of legal education.

The Society does not itself provide legal advice to members of the public. It has, however, constructed an index of its members in private practice to help you find a solicitor with a particular speciality in your locality. Please click here to go to our “Find a Solicitor” search facility.

The officers of the Society are elected annually in November at its Annual General Meeting.

Day to day administration is handled by a part-time administrator, Erica Pearce-Howard who can be contacted via email on hertslawsoc@talktalk.net
